Spear head Battle report response to NockerGeek

Alrighty Nocker Geek here is a battle report about your spear head and null/ deployment versus alpha strike dilemma.

It's not drop pod, and it's not BA or SW so it was not as crazy hard a battle as it could have been, but even against chaos, they were deployed super close and I went second, Chaos that close with first turn required careful deployment as well as a little bit of luck. Luckily it was objective and not Kill points.

I am not super type-y right now because I just had a root canal, but ask some questions or anything and I will respond, my brain just doesn't want to create information by itself right now.

  1. I know someone who plays SW drop pod, hopefully I will be able to get some games in and post reports and let ya know what I think, and you can see how I do.

  2. Thanks, Krox! I really appreciate you recording this game and posting the batrep for me.

You did a good job of blunting the Chaos assault and not being overrun, and it was definitely a hard-fought battle for both sides. I think you're right, though; had you gone for Null Deployment, you would have ended up with Chaos all over the field and wouldn't have had the barrage of fire needed to start chipping away at them. Even though you didn't win, you make a good argument.

  3. I will try to get some more battle reports in to show alpha strike Tau in tough situations because I did ninja tau for a decent amount of time and it just didn't work so hot, especially compared to Alpha strike.

  4. If i would have been more conservative with my piranhas I could have contested the plague marines objective.

  5. That game was pretty fun. The second round was very frustrating with the dice rolling when I needed a comeback after losing my 200 point Daemon Prince. Fortunately it turned around later in the game with destroying the Pirhanas (the Greater Daemon needed ALL 6" of his charge to reach), and getting the kroot to run from my plague marines. So I guess it all evened out.

Maybe we should play one with my (possibly) improved Daemon Drop list, which should do well at covering the table with icky chaos. It's not drop pods, but a similar idea anyway.

    Good game krox!
