Here is an 1850 game I played recently versus bugs. Another reminder that maybe I should just mech up.
At least no Doom this time, but still it is hard to run away from shrikes. Besides Shadowsun I have been toying with the idea of taking a budget EL then maxing out on firewarriors with devilfish, pathfinders in devilfish and an ethreal with an honorguard. Not seriously thinking I can win, but it would just be funny to put a ton of tanks on the table. More tanks would have helped me a lot in this match.
Maybe in the next Codex Crisis suits will get some type of fast transport?
Seriously though, Kill points AND Dawn of War versus Bugs?!!? My morale was low at the start of the match, they may have effected some of my decision making processes.

Wow! That's a tough break. The worst possible mission/deployment combo for you. Not only was there no alpha strike, but 1st turn night fight rules, yikes!
ReplyDeleteYea, this is where my friend plays a lot of mech Tau and he just scoots out of CC/melta range of me every turn on KP missions. He gets an early KP or two, then runs and hides. It's a game of cat and mouse. Heh.
Yeppers, that mission/deployment is the worst combo for any Tau player.
ReplyDeleteYeah, tough break. I played him after you and got capture and control pitched battle with my chaos. My biggest weakness was lack of nid knowledge. Wow those Shrikes are tough SOBs. I ended up losing everything but an Obliterator and my Greater Daemon and was about 5 inches away from both objectives.
ReplyDeleteFun game, and a good nid player!
Maybe I should just go back to 3 devil fish and 3 hammerheads with some fireknife teams.
ReplyDeletei play this guy every week and ive only beat him one time... ork vs nid 500 point pitched annihilation. i won with one wound left on my warboss...and thats about it. he eats everyone else but me and a necron/deldar player with little or no effort. btw, were you at fantasy flight right there?
ReplyDeletePhoenix games. He is pretty good.
